The Exciting New US Dramas

posted Apr 13, 2011 14:05:53 by Jonathan
I've watched Broadwalk Empire Season 1 and though it was very good.

I've watched Treme Season 1 and have pretended to think that was very good.

What do you suggest I do next?

Treme Season 1 was really good and Season 2 starts soon.

Boardwalk Empire was pretty weak, I thought. But, I didn't make it through the entire first season. I like some of the characters on, but, overall, it's a disappointing effort from HBO from the first 7 eps or so.

Are you only looking for NEW dramas from the US?

The Wire rapes any new shows.

Boardwalk Empire was ace. I normally loathe anything on HBO but that was worth it.

I liked "The Walking Dead" series...if that counts as a 'drama' series. It's like a drama, just with zombies running about.

That's about it as far as tv goes for me. The rest is filled with wrestling and cartoons.

Blue Bloods on Sky Atlantic has been very good, I think it's coming to the end of it's run as it started same time as Boardwalk Empire.

Also, check out the Sons of Anarchy, I think we've just finished Season 4 but rent the box sets, that's a quality show.

I can't be arsed to watch any new US shows from the beginning (Treme was an exception).

So many awesome shows get cancelled for no apparent good reason, that's not worth it until you know it'll get past seven episodes.

...yet at the same time, complete shite gets season after season.

Boardwalk Empire is overrated.

Archer is about the good thing on US television at the moment. Symbionic Titan was too, but the numbnuts at the network canned it.

Kings is another one like that. It doesn't even get through its season before it gets canned. My guess is the show was too smart so they replaced it with a reality show.

Go to AMC, they make some great shows, Ive never seen Mad Men but heard its great, Breaking Bad is excellent, Walking Dead was good, and the new show, The Killing I'm pretty into.

I just watched the first hour of The Killing. That was pretty solid, I'll keep watching. Mad Men I kind of watched the first season of then haven't watched since, it was OK.

I'm giving a shot to Chicago Code now. Mainly because it's on Monday nights so I can watch that instead of RAW. It's been pretty decent, but, wouldn't call it something to go out of your way to see.
